I have never thought how good a training cam could be. It was a complete “fill-up” – physically and mentally, too.

Honestly speaking, it was a sudden decision from my side to join the Bianchi Cycling Club for this camp. As my financial situation is far from “ideal”, I hadn’t been to one before. Besides, I am happy to say, I have never had a problem with sitting on my bike long hours using the Tacx Fortius trainer, as I do enjoy – even if only virtually – visiting countries I haven’t been before, not to mention the deadly races with virtual opponents. At least this is a cost-effective solution…
So I calculated and decided, OK, let’s see. Our destination was the Spanish Costa Brava, the seaside resort city of Blanes. We took an economy flight with hand baggage only as our bikes and belongings were transported by car. We were staying in apartments where we could cook for ourselves.
We did a big shopping on arrival – this is what women are really good at. 😉

One of the real advantages of the camp was that I could ride in group, which I very rarely have the opportunity to do. Most of the group consisted of boys, so we had hard times sometimes…

But we didn’t complain – our egos didn’t let us show any sign of weakness. 😉

Anyway, we had good company, me and Brigi Poór were smiling and laughing all the time – except when the boys decided to rush on the main road…
But the serpentines and the view of the sea compensated us for all the “pain” and “suffering”…

We had either one long or two shorted trainings a day, and we spent most of our time eating, cooking, resting and getting ready for the day. There was no time to feel bored. I was really happy that I could concentrate on my training exclusively, there was no work, no rush to do this and that… I wish I could do it for longer than 10 days…

Thanks god, the weather was nice; we had rain only one day. The temperature was between 12-20 most days, so we got a bit of suntan, too.

We did different trainings, moreover we had long hillclimbs, too (I’m simply in love with them)! There were two groups, a stronger and a weaker one. Me and Brigitta, were in the former one. 😉
On our rest day we visited the city of Barcelona and did a nice sightseeing. We saw the Güell Park, the Sagrada Família cathedral (amazing!) and – of course, the olympic park. We could even walk in the footsteps of famous sportsmen, such as Miguel Indurain. He also loved Sidi. 😉

All in all, I felt great in the camp, I learnt a lot from the more experienced guys, so it was definitely worth it. I do hope it was not the last time to do a camp like that.
